Bring the spiritual charm of Maharashtra’s devotional tradition into your home with this beautifully crafted pair of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini.
Lord Vitthal, also known as Vithoba or Pandurang, is depicted standing with both hands resting on his waist, a characteristic posture associated with his revered form at Pandharpur. He wears a tall crown, traditional ornaments and a finely detailed dhoti, with a diagonal sash crossing his torso. His composed expression and distinctive stance give the sculpture a strong, dignified presence.
Beside him stands Goddess Rukmini, also worshipped as Rakhumai, the divine consort of Lord Vitthal. She is adorned with traditional jewellery, a decorative head ornament and a beautifully patterned garment. Her hands rest on her waist, echoing the characteristic posture of the accompanying deity.
The sculptures feature a striking combination of warm reddish-brown tones and golden detailing. The contrast highlights the crowns, necklaces, armlets, waist ornaments and carefully sculpted garment patterns. Each figure stands on an individual rectangular base, making the pair suitable for display together on a home altar, console or dedicated devotional shelf.
Lord Vitthal is deeply associated with the Bhakti tradition of Maharashtra, particularly the sacred pilgrimage town of Pandharpur. His iconic stance is linked to the story of the devotee Pundalik, whose devotion to his parents led the Lord to wait upon a brick. Goddess Rukmini, revered as his consort, represents divine grace and devotion.
Together, Vitthal and Rukmini make a meaningful addition to a home temple or a collection of traditional Indian religious art. Their distinctive forms and antique-style finish combine devotional significance with the timeless appeal of handcrafted brass sculpture.
