This posture of Vishnu is known as Ananta Shayana or Ananta Sayinam, meaning "lying on the serpent Ananta."

The image also incorporates the concept of creation, with Lord Brahma emerging from Vishnu's navel. According to Hindu cosmology, Brahma is the creator of the universe. The legend goes that when the universe was in a state of dissolution, Vishnu lay on the cosmic waters, and from his navel emerged a lotus. Brahma, the creator, then emerged from this lotus and began the process of creation.

This imagery symbolizes the cyclical nature of the universe, with Vishnu representing preservation, Shesha representing eternity, and Brahma representing creation. It's a profound symbol that encapsulates various aspects of Hindu cosmology and philosophy.
