Product Description

Dancing Nataraja or Shiva, one of the three greatest God of Hindus. Handcrafted from excellent quality brass in bronze finish by artisans from South India.

The Tandava is a divine dance performed by Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. It is a powerful and energetic dance that symbolizes the cosmic cycles of creation, preservation, and destruction. The Tandava is associated with the rhythm of time and the movements of the universe.

Shiva has several forms of Tandava, and each is associated with a different aspect of his divine role. Some of the well-known forms of Tandava and related names in mythology include:

  1. Ananda Tandava (Dance of Bliss): This form of Tandava represents the joyful and blissful aspect of Shiva. It is said to occur in the celestial abode of Mount Kailash.

  2. Rudra Tandava (Dance of Rudra): Rudra is another name for Shiva, and Rudra Tandava is a fierce and destructive dance that symbolizes the cosmic cycle of creation and destruction.

  3. Kalika Tandava (Dance of Kali): Kali is a fierce aspect of the goddess Parvati, and her dance is associated with destruction and time. This form of Tandava is often intense and symbolizes the uncontrollable nature of time.

  4. Tripura Tandava (Dance of Tripurantaka): This form of Tandava is associated with Shiva's role as Tripurantaka, the destroyer of the three demonic cities. It symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

  5. Sati Tandava (Dance of Sati): After the death of his first wife, Sati, Shiva performed this Tandava in grief and anger. It is associated with sorrow and the destructive aspect of Shiva's nature.

  6. Lasya and Tandava: These are two primary aspects of the divine dance. Lasya is a gentle and graceful dance associated with the goddess Parvati, while Tandava is the more vigorous and forceful dance associated with Shiva.

  7. Pancha Tandava (Fivefold Dance): This form of Tandava is associated with the five activities of Shiva – creation, protection, destruction, hiding, and blessing.

The Tandava is often described in various Hindu scriptures and is a symbol of the cosmic dance of life and the eternal rhythm of the universe. The various forms of Tandava reflect the multifaceted nature of Lord Shiva, encompassing both creation and destruction in the eternal cycle of existence.
