Height: 18 inches | Width: 10.5 inches | Depth: 7 inches |
This exquisite traditional Prabhavali / Tiruvasi is an ornamental aureole traditionally placed behind a Hindu deity to create a sacred and visually commanding backdrop. The composition features a beautifully proportioned arched frame with concentric bands of intricate beaded, floral and geometric ornamentation.
At the summit is a prominent Kirtimukha, the protective and auspicious guardian face, surrounded by scrolling motifs and crowned by a striking crescent-shaped finial with a flame-like element. The outer edge is articulated with repeated pointed ornamental projections, creating the impression of a radiant halo.
The inner arch is carefully embellished with delicate pierced and patterned work, while the vertical side supports feature geometric cross-hatching and stepped architectural detailing. The entire aureole rises from a substantial tiered pedestal, giving it stability and a temple-inspired architectural character.
Traditionally, a Prabhavali symbolizes the divine radiance or aura surrounding the deity. It is particularly associated with South Indian temple sculpture and bronze traditions, where the aureole serves both a devotional and aesthetic purpose by visually framing the sacred image. This piece can be paired with a suitable deity sculpture or used independently as a striking element of traditional Indian décor.
Ensure the lasting beauty of this idol with simple care – gentle cleaning with a soft, dry cloth is recommended to preserve its divine radiance.
DO NOT use harsh chemicals to clean. You can apply a thin coat of any natural oil by gently rubbing it throughout the statue with a soft cloth in order to maintain its luster.
